

Matthew Lazenby is an experienced accompanist at concerts, having accompanied numerous soloists and ensembles over the last several years, as well as for student concerts hosted by their teachers. Matthew is an excellent sightreader of piano music, enabling him to undertake engagements in Leeds or York at short notice if required.
Whether accompanying Music A-level or degree students, or entrants to the ABRSM music examinations, Matthew Lazenby is an empathetic accompanist, sensitive to the requirements of the soloist. Matthew is fully aware of the requirements of each examination board and the format of the respective exams, and conscientiously keeps up to do date with changes in exam syllabi.
Matthew Lazenby is a skilled pianist and accompanist, accompanying choirs, ensembles, soloists and music examinations in Leeds and York.
Matthew Lazenby has many years' experience in accompanying choirs, particularly church choirs, both on piano and organ. Being a chorister himself, Matthew is in an ideal position to appreciate the requirements of choral accompanying.
One of the choirs for which Matthew is the regular accompanist is the Heritage Masterworks Chorale, a large thriving choir based in Leeds and directed by Tim Knight, the Principal of the Yorkshire College of Music & Drama, Leeds. Matthew has recently completed a tour of Belgium with this choir, involving concerts in such prestigious venues as St Bavo’s Cathedral, Ghent.
Matthew Lazenby is also the accompanist for Leeds Male Voice Choir and Horsforth Choral Society, a long-established mixed-voice choir in Leeds which performs regular concerts throughout the year.

Prior to the examination, Matthew holds at least one rehearsal to ensure that candidates are confident at playing their pieces with an accompanist. On the day of the exam, Matthew does his best to ensure that candidates are put at their ease so that they can give their best performance.
Matthew regularly provides examination accompaniment at the Yorkshire College of Music and Drama in addition to having assisted at Leeds College of Music and a number of Leeds schools.
